Crush Music/Atlantic Weezer has released a new version of the band’s current single, “Hero.”
The updated recording finds Rivers Cuomo and company swapping out electric guitar riffs for a piano, turning the rock anthem into a softer ballad. You can download it now via digital outlets.
The original “Hero” is included on Weezer’s upcoming album, Van Weezer, which was originally scheduled to drop in May but was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Along with the piano version of “Hero,” the band also promises that “more details about Van Weezer and more [are] on the way.”
Weezer was also supposed to be on the road this summer with Green Day and Fall Out Boy on the Hella Mega tour, which has also been pushed back due to COVID-19. The run will now launch in the summer of 2021.
