Gabe Ginsberg/Getty ImagesThe lawsuit over payments made to artists on the Fyre Festival lineup, including Blink-182, has been settled, Billboard reports.
In 2019, the trustee overseeing Fyre Festival co-founder Billy McFarland‘s bankruptcy case, sued Blink and other acts scheduled to play the doomed 2017 event to return the money that they’d been paid. In Blink’s case, the trustee sought the return of $500,000.
According to Billboard, Blink’s agency Creative Artist Agency ended up returning $135,000 in the settlement.
Fyre Festival, as you may recall, was billed as an exclusive, luxury event in the Bahamas, co-founded by rapper Ja Rule and promoted by high profile models including Kendall Jenner and Emily Ratajkowski. When attendees arrived, they were instead greeted with unfinished facilities and disaster relief tents.
On the eve of the festival, Blink-182 announced that they were dropping off the lineup. “We’re not confident that we would have what we need to give you the quality of performances we always give our fans,” they wrote.
Several documentaries about the Fyre Festival and the disastrous planning happening behind the scenes have since been released. McFarland is currently in prison for wire fraud.
