Tom Morello shreds for kids on Ziggy Marley’s new album, ‘More Family Time’

Tuff Gong WorldwideRage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello is bringing his shredding skills to the younger generation on More Family Time, a new children’s album from Ziggy Marley. Speaking with ABC Audio, Marley — the son of reggae great Bob Marley — explains how the collaboration came together.

“I am a Rage Against the Machine fan,” Marley shares. “But Tom’s son and my son go to the same school, we go to soccer, baseball [together]. I know Tom, I see Tom all the while. So it was a very natural connection we had.”

Morello guests on a song called “Move Your Body,” which also features rapper Busta Rhymes and Marley’s son, Isaiah. While Morello’s most famous for playing the heavy riffs on politically fiery anthems such as “Killing in the Name” and “Bulls on Parade,” Marley feels the guitarist fits “perfectly” on a more lighthearted song like “Move Your Body.”

“Tom…he has that rebellious thing, and I think that’s where he does his…best work,” Marley says. “So it was kinda funny to ask him to go on this kids’ album, but I think that song kinda fits his aggressive style of playing perfectly.”

More Family Time is out now.
