Foo Fighters perform classic “Learn to Fly” on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’

Stephen Lovekin/Getty ImagesFoo Fighters threw it back to 1999 on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Thursday night, performing their breakout hit “Learn to Fly” to close out the show and give fans a taste of their upcoming concert taking place this weekend.

The band filmed their socially distanced concert at the Toubadour, located in West Hollywood.

The Dave Grohl-fronted band is gearing up to headline the three-day virtual #SOSFest — which aims to support the independent music venues crippled by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Fans of live music can catch the three-day affair between October 16-18.

The event will spotlight original performances as well as offer commentary about how the live music industry benefits all genres of music.

“Learn to Fly” was the lead single off the band’s third studio effort There Is Nothing Left to Lose, which propelled the band to critical acclaim and became the group’s first song to enter the Billboard charts, peaking at 19.

The song, which is RIAA-certified Platinum, went on to fetch the Foos first Grammy for Best Short Form Video.
