Listen to MCR’s Frank Iero cover R.E.M.’s “Losing My Religion” with Future Violents solo project

UNFDMy Chemical Romance guitarist Frank Iero has released a cover of the R.E.M. classic “Losing My Religion” with his solo project, the Future Violents.

Iero recorded the cover with Kayleigh Goldsworthy, whose band had opened for the Future Violents during their tour in 2017.

“During that first tour together we got to talking about how she played the mandolin and how we shared a love for R.E.M., and more specifically ‘Losing my Religion,'” Iero explains. “So, on the last night of tour in San Francisco we found an empty room/hallway/stairwell type place and made an iPhone voice memo demo of the song.”

“It felt like magic,” he adds. “That was the moment I was convinced this couldn’t be the only thing we did together.”

You can download the “Losing My Religion” cover now via digital outlets. It will also appear on the upcoming Future Violents EP Heaven Is a Place, This Is a Place, due out January 15, 2021.

Iero and My Chemical Romance were supposed to launch their much-anticipated reunion tour this year, but the outing’s been postponed to 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
