Corey Taylor premieres “Samantha’s Gone” video

Credit: Ashley OsbornCorey Taylor has premiered the video for “Samantha’s Gone,” a track from the Slipknot frontman’s debut solo album, CMFT.

The meta clip takes place a music video shoot, with a band led by Tom Sandoval of the Bravo reality show Vanderpump Rules miming along to the track. Unfortunately, his over-the-top theatrics anger the director, who promptly fires him.

Sensing an opportunity, Taylor and his solo band, all of whom play members of the production crew, jump on stage and jam along to the song. While it seems like they’re nailing it, the director deems the performance “horrible” before turning to a third option: the members of Steel Panther.

“The video for ‘Samantha’s Gone’ served two purposes: making fun of so-called ‘indie rock’ bands and getting all my friends together to hang out and have a good time,” Taylor says in a statement to Bravo’s The Daily Dish, which is something we never thought we’d say.

“We all went back and forth between having fun and social distancing,” Taylor adds. “Watching the first ‘band’ was great, then being fired from our OWN song in favor of Steel Panther was the icing on the cake — can’t wait for everyone to see it!”

CMFT was released last October. It also includes the single “Black Eyes Blue.”
