Ex-Black Veil Brides bassist Ashley Purdy teases new music

Miikka Skaffari/FilmMagicLess than two weeks after Black Veil Brides announced that bass player Ashley Purdy was no longer in the group, he appears to be back with some solo material.

Purdy posted some Instagram video from what looks like a recording studio, along with the caption, “What if i told you i’ve been busy.. working on new music. What if i told you it sounded like this…”

On the video, you can hear a snippet of the new song, which sounds less like BVB’s ’80s hard rock-inspired material and more like straight-up ’80s new wave.  The track may or may not be called “Buried Alive.”

As previously reported, the band and Purdy announced they were parting ways in a Twitter statement that read, “Black Veil Brides and Ashley Purdy have mutually agreed to part ways. We have enjoyed a wonderful run together and both parties wish one another continued success moving forward.”

Purdy joined Black Veil Brides in 2009 and played on all five of their albums. A replacement has yet to be announced.
