Queens of the Stone Age and The Dead Weather member Dean Fertita has announced his debut solo album.

The record, titled Tropical Gothclub, will be released November 4.

“Tropical Gothclub as a concept is futuristic nostalgia,” Fertita explains. “Going through the seven stages of escapism, understanding the subliminal messages I’ve been sending and receiving to myself, and letting fantasy take a machete to the darkest corners of my mind. I want subculture shock and volcanic rock.”

You can listen to the album’s first single, “Wheels Within Wheels,” now via digital outlets.

Queens of the Stone Age dropped their latest album, Villains, in 2017, while The Dead Weather’s most recent effort is 2015’s Dodge and Burn.

As Mark Hoppus continues to get back on his feet following his battle with cancer last year, he’s “hopeful for the future” of Blink-182.

“I keep writing music, and I’m open to whatever the next phase of Blink is,” Hoppus tells People, adding, “I’m just damn glad to be here.”

Fans have been theorizing lately that the next phase of Blink would feature Tom DeLonge rejoining the band following his departure in 2015. However, Hoppus threw cold water on those rumors, posting on his Discord page that Blink currently has “nothing to announce.”

Still, Hoppus notes that he’s built a stronger relationship with DeLonge in recent years, and recalls when DeLonge and Blink drummer Travis Barker visited him just before he started chemotherapy.

“It was the first time that all three of us were in the same room in, like, five years,” Hoppus shares. “It’s actually better than it used to be. There was no agenda. There were no lingering grudges. It felt very back to what it should be: three friends sitting in a room.”

Elsewhere in the People interview, Hoppus reveals that he fell into depression after initially being diagnosed with cancer.

“I was in our living room crying and telling my wife, ‘I don’t know if I can do this,'” Hoppus says. “She was like, ‘Well, what are you going to do, kill yourself?’ And that’s exactly what I was thinking. It was pretty dark.”

“It was a total snap-out-of-it moment,” he continues. “I was like, ‘What a s***ty thing to say.’ But also, what a kind thing to say, like, ‘Snap out of it, you f***ing baby. You have a beatable form of cancer. It’s going to suck to get there, but get there.’ I had to do the work.”

A “Seven Nation Army” won’t hold Jack White back from uncovering the mysteries of Snoop Dogg‘s new breakfast cereal.

The rapper recently announced the debut of Snoop Loopz, a Froot Loops-esque cereal set to be released under his Broadus Food business. In an Instagram post, White congratulates Snoop on his new venture and extends a “pat on the back for its charitable benefits.” But he has a few “important questions,” specifically related to the Snoop Loopz box’s promise of “more marshmallows.”

“More than what?” White wonders. “If this is in fact a brand new cereal, it can’t be more marshmallows than ‘before.'”

“Is it a statement that this cereal has more marshmallows than say … a bag of sand, or a typical caesar salad?” the rocker continues. “Or, is it a DEMAND from Snoop Dogg himself that we just have more marshmallows in this world in general? That last theory is my hope.”

Diving even deeper into the existential dilemma of a Snoop Dogg-produced cereal, White notes that fellow rapper Master P also promoted Snoop Loopz on his Instagram, but the photo of the box in his post advertises only “more marshmallow,” singular.

“Photo attached, answers demanded,” White concludes.

While White’s questions are surely intriguing, they also raise more questions, mainly concerning what the White Stripes/Raconteurs/Dead Weather musician thinks about in his spare time. And, of course, we now can’t help but wonder what a Jack White-branded cereal would be called. Wheat Stripes? Seven Essential Vitamins & Minerals Army? I Can Tell That We Are Going to Be Flakes?

Perhaps someone can ask White about it during his ongoing solo tour supporting his new albums Fear of the Dawn and Entering Heaven Alive, which continues Wednesday in Indianapolis.

Among Anthrax guitarist Scott Ian‘s many projects is The Damned Things, a band also featuring Fall Out Boy‘s Joe Trohman and Andy Hurley, ex-Every Time I Die frontman Keith Buckley and Alkaline Trio bassist Dan Andriano. Speaking with ABC Audio, Ian shares that he would “love” to get The Damned Things back together for another album.

“That’s one of those things where it’s, you know, we’re all pretty busy,” Ian laughs.

The Damned Things released their debut album, Ironiclast, in 2010 and didn’t get around to putting out a sophomore follow-up until 2019 with High Crimes. Even given nine years, High Crimes still came together out of the blue.

“[Trohman] sent me over these demos; I was, like, ‘Dude! These are amazing!'” Ian recalls. “We never had a meeting or a plan to ‘Let’s start writing a record,’ he was just writing and was writing this great s***, and then that turned into the second album.”

As for album number three, Ian is keeping his hopes up.

“I love those dudes, we’re all friends and are some of my favorite people on this planet,” Ian says. “So any time I would get to be room with them, I’d be very happy about it … I would certainly hope that, at some point, we would get to do it again.”

In the meantime, we can hope that Ian’s 11-year-old son, Revel, keeps pestering him about it.

“My son’s been a big fan of that for years,” Ian says. “He’s constantly [asking], ‘When are you gonna make a Damned Things record?'” 

Anthrax is currently touring the U.S. while celebrating the band’s 40th anniversary. Black Label Society is also on the bill.

Tom DeLonge will be an executive producer on Breaking Bear, an upcoming adult animated series set to air on the streaming service Tubi.

According to a press release, the show is aiming for a The Sopranos-meets-The Yogi Bear Show vibe. It follows a family of bears that becomes drug dealers “in order to raise money and save their home after gas companies start fracking next to their cave.” Or, as DeLonge puts it, “Just a ridiculous show about animals doing drugs.”

Meanwhile, DeLonge will make his directorial film debut with the movie Monsters of California, which also features original music written and performed by the former Blink-182 member. DeLonge’s most recent music release is the 2021 Angels & Airwaves album Lifeforms.

Throughout Rage Against the Machine‘s U.S. reunion tour, the band has been raising money for a variety of different charities and organizations through ticket sales. Following the group’s five-night stand at New York City’s Madison Square Garden, those fundraising efforts hit a significant milestone.

According to a tweet from the “Killing in the Name” rockers, charity tickets purchased over the five MSG shows raised a total of $1 million. The money will be donated to the Immigrant Defense Project, as well as the local NYC charities Neighbors Together and The Campaign Against Hunger.

The MSG concerts marked the final dates on Rage’s 2022 U.S. leg, which mark the band’s first live shows since 2011. The outing had originally been scheduled for 2020, but was delayed to this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Rage was set to follow the U.S. run with a trip to the U.K. and Europe, but those dates were canceled due to frontman Zack de la Rocha suffering an injury during a July show in Chicago, which forced him to perform while seated for the rest of the tour. Now that the MSG shows are done, de la Rocha is set to “return home for rest and rehabilitation.”
