ABC/Randy HolmesMumford & Sons added another son to their lineup during their headlining set at the Austin City Limits festival Sunday: Lars Ulrich.
The Metallica drummer joined the folk rockers for a heavy metal-infused rendition of their song “The Wolf.” You can watch fan-recorded footage of the onstage collaboration now on YouTube.
If you were to pick a Mumford song for Ulrich to play, “The Wolf” is a pretty solid choice — it’s a track from the 2015 album Wilder Mind, which saw the U.K. quartet purposefully move away from the banjo and mandolin-driven style of their first two records in favor of more electric sounds. Now we want to hear what it would sound like if you put Ulrich on “Little Lion Man.”
Mumford & Sons have been touring the U.S. in support of their latest album, 2018’s Delta. They launch a tour of Asia in November.
