Listen to a young Chester Bennington sing on re-recorded Grey Daze song, “What’s in the Eye”

ABC/Jeff NeiraChester Bennington‘s first band, Grey Daze, has released “What’s in the Eye,” a re-recorded song from the group’s early days, featuring the original vocals from the young future Linkin Park frontman.

“It’s the voice of Chester you all know, remember and love but in a whole new light,” Grey Daze says in a statement.

Bennington sang in Grey Daze from 1993 to 1998. He joined Linkin Park in 1999.

In February 2017, Bennington reunited with his Grey Daze band mates and they planned to re-record their earlier material for an album. Of course, the project was put on hold following Bennington’s death in July 2017.

Late last year, Grey Daze announced that they had finished the album with the blessing of Bennington’s widow, Talinda.

“For us, releasing a new Grey Daze album will shine a light on where my husband started and hopefully give his fans a better understanding of his art and a more full picture of his journey through this incredible music,” Talinda said.

You can download “What’s in the Eye” now via digital outlets. The Grey Daze album is due out later this year.
