Nirvana is encouraging social distancing with a parody version of “Stay Away.”
Musician Urian Hackney from the sibling rock band Rough Francis has made a hygiene-themed version of the Nevermind cut, titled “Stay Inside.” The updated tune replaces the lyrics of “Stay Away” with couplets such as “Wipe every surface clean/stock up on rice and beans,” and “Stay your stupid a** inside/plan your trip another time.”
Nirvana themselves — or, at least, whoever runs the band’s Twitter account — approved of the parody, and tweeted it along with caption “Stay Inside!!!!”
