Static-X has set a release date for Project Regeneration, a new album featuring the final vocal recordings of late frontman Wayne Static.
The album will be available on May 29, 2020. You can check out a preview of the new song “Hollow” now via YouTube.
Static-X first announced plans for Project Regeneration in October 2018. The album will feature the band’s original lineup — bassist Tony Campos, guitarist Koichi Fukuda and drummer Ken Jay — as well as vocals and compositions left behind by Static prior to his death in 2014.
Originally, Project Regeneration was going to feature mostly guest vocalists. However, a new trove of Static’s recordings was discovered, and the album will now feature Wayne’s lead vocals on “nearly every track.”
Over the summer, Static-X launched a tour celebrating the 20th anniversary of the band’s 1999 debut album Wisconsin Death Trip, with an unidentified singer referred to as “Xer0,” who wears a mask created in Static’s likeness.
The tour is currently traveling through Europe, and will return to the U.S. for another run in November.
