New Found Glory’s Chad Gilbert diagnosed with another tumor following 2021 health scare

Miikka Skaffari/FilmMagic

New Found Glory guitarist Chad Gilbert has been diagnosed with another tumor after going through a harrowing health scare at the end of 2021.

Last December, Gilbert’s wife, Lisa, found him “unresponsive in bed” and “minutes from death.” After being rushed to the ER, doctors discovered he had a pheochromocytoma, a rare, usually benign tumor that had become malignant and required surgery.

While the surgery was successful and Gilbert has since returned to the road with New Found Glory, he shared in a new Instagram post Monday that doctors found a new pheochromocytoma tumor on his spine.

“I’ll be headed into surgery [Tuesday] to get almost all of it out then hit what’s left with some fancy radiation,” Gilbert writes. “Scary stuff but it’s all about the little wins.”

“Each day we’ve been having fun in the hospital and feel lucky with so many things and God’s timing with all of this,” he continues. “If I didn’t go on tour and inflame my tumor, I wouldn’t have known early enough it was there! Then my band’s love and support got me home to get scanned.”

Gilbert adds that he’s in a better place, physically and emotionally, now than when he was initially diagnosed last year.

“My vitals and heart are great this time,” he says. “Moving forward with today’s amazing technology, I can be on a lifelong treatment that just keeps it all at bay. Like living with an illness but its not life-threatening. I no longer have to guess if it will return and just relax.”

Machine Gun Kelly reflects on tour-ending hometown show: “It’s a fairy tale”

ABC

For Machine Gun Kelly, this is what dreams are made of.

The “Bloody Valentine” rocker has shared a statement reflecting on his sold-out, headlining concert at the FirstEnergy Stadium in his hometown of Cleveland, Ohio. The show, which took place Saturday, marked the final date on MGK’s U.S. tour in support of his latest album, Mainstream Sellout.

“I typed out and erased how I’m feeling 20 times but I’ll never be able to put it in words so I won’t even try,” Kelly writes. “Just know I’m still smiling ear to ear and wiping tears.”

To add to the excitement of the concert, Cleveland declared August 13 to be Machine Gun Kelly Day.

“Sold out stadium show in my hometown (on MGK Day) to end a legendary tour,” Kelly muses. “It’s a fairy tale.”

Kelly also retweeted a post from Travis Barker congratulating him on his successful homecoming.

“Brother I’m so proud of you,” Barker writes. “A…sold out stadium in your hometown!!!! It doesn’t get any better.”

The Blink-182 drummer, who worked with MGK on Mainstream Sellout and 2020’s Tickets to My Downfall, adds, “I’m so proud of the albums we made and watching thousands of kids sing the songs we’ve written together.”

Machine Gun Kelly will return to the road for a European tour launching in September.

After a drama-filled week which saw her being arrested for domestic assault, Michelle Branch has now filed for divorce from her husband of three years, Patrick Carney of The Black Keys, Billboard reports.

According to the divorce complaint, which was filed August 12, Michelle cites irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split. She lists the date of separation as August 11, and requested primary residential custody of the couple’s two children and that Carney pay child support.

Last Thursday, Michelle posted and then deleted a tweet in which she accused Carney of cheating on her. She then issued an official statement saying she is “totally devastated” and that “the rug has been completely pulled from underneath me.” She was subsequently arrested after she slapped Carney; she was released on $1,000 bond.

Michelle and Carney have a 6-month-old daughter and a 4-year-old son; Michelle also has a 17-year-old daughter from her previous marriage. When she wed Carney in 2019, it was her second marriage and his third.

Reading & Leeds “saddened” following Måneskin VMA performance announcement

ABC

Last week, Måneskin announced that they were dropping off the lineup for the U.K.’s 2022 Reading & Leeds festivals due to unspecified “unforeseen scheduling conflicts.” Now, it would appear that the mystery has been solved.

On Monday, it was announced that Måneskin will be performing at the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards on August 28, which overlaps with Reading & Leeds dates: August 26-28.

Reading & Leeds organizers have issued a statement regarding Måneskin’s cancellation, as well as that of rapper Jack Harlow, who is also performing on the VMAs after being on the original R&L lineup.

“We are saddened to hear that Jack Harlow and Måneskin have decided to perform at an award show the same weekend they were confirmed to play Reading & Leeds,” the statement reads.

Organizers add that they’re currently “working on some exciting replacements.”

Reading & Leeds already needed to replace headliner Rage Against the Machine after the reunited band canceled their U.K. and European tour dates due to frontman Zack de la Rocha suffering from what’s reportedly a torn Achilles tendon. The 1975 has since joined the bill.

Other artists on the Reading & Leeds lineup include Arctic Monkeys, Bring Me the Horizon, Wolf Alice, Glass Animals, Halsey, Bastille and All Time Low.

Porno for Pyros is “writing and recording new music”

Gary Miller/FilmMagic

In addition to reuniting on the stage, Porno for Pyros looks to be reuniting in the studio.

In a Facebook post, guitarist Peter DiStefano reveals that the Perry Farrell-led outfit is “writing and recording new music.” The post is accompanied by a photo of DiStefano and Farrell together.

The update follows a post DiStefano made in 2021, in which he wrote that he and Pyros drummer Stephen Perkins, who also plays in Jane’s Addiction with Farrell, were “Working on new Porno For Pyros songs.”

Porno for Pyros released their most recent album, Good God’s Urge, in 1996, two years before breaking up in 1998. The group got back together for their first full, public concert in 26 years during May’s Welcome to Rockville festival, and have played several one-off headlining and festival sets since, including at Farrell’s Lollapalooza.
